Description
This five-piece costume consists of trousers, a shirt, a waistcoat, a necktie and a cap, to give a historically accurate and fun-to-wear Victorian or Edwardian urchin boy.
The cream-coloured shirt has short sleeves, a round neck and a Velcro fastening at the back, while the brown trousers have an elasticated waist and reach mid-calf. There is a red tie which goes loosely around the neck, and a brown waitcoat which is loose fitting - only higher classes would have had the luxury of buttons 150 years ago! The costume is completed by a brown cap, elasticated at the back. Although the children would have been barefoot, like our model, a pair of black or brown shoes without socks teamed up with this costume will give an authentic Victorian poorhouse or urchin boy look.
